Tacky Board Test - Völkl Vice SQD

Le Glacier 3000, Switzerland, 9/16/2009 by Anthonie de Vries
The Vice SQD is Volkl's freestyle board in the mid-range price segment. Our testers liked how the board handles in the park and with the broad range of sizes this board can be ridden by almost everybody.
Board specifications
Sizes: 151, 154, 157, 159, 162 wide
Type: Park
Shape: Twin-Tip shape
Base: Extruded
Technical features:
Partial Grip-lacque topsheet, Slim-tip construction, Multilayer sidewalls, Volkl Premium Carbon weave, Diamond finish

Test results
Flex/Stiffness 1-10 (1 is flexible, 10 is stiff)
The Vice SQD is a bit stiffer than you would like it to be.

Pop 1-10

Good pop.

Terrain 1-10(1 not suited, 10 most suited)
Rails - 5
Kicker - 8
Slope - 7
One of our testers didn't like the Vice SQD for jibbing but like it more on kickers and on the slopes.

A pretty 'urban' look. The sickest feature is the griptape in between the bindings for all your one-footed fun!

Technical features
Not a lot outstanding technical features, which can be good. An extra is the grip on the topsheet.

Grip, twin tip.

Easy on slopes. Nice pop on kickers. Sweet on landings.

Not really made for jibbing.

Who is this board for? Level 1-10

From beginner to more advanced.

Rider type beginner park rider who wants learn more on kickers.

Happiness Factor 1-10 (how much did our testers like this board)

A very decent board, especially if you look at the price.
