So is this your first time to London then?
Yeah, I've never been here before, but I love it because it's completely different, but everyone speaks English which makes it a lot easier.
So did you manage to bring your board with you?
Naaa, I wanted to, but like, I figured we wouldn’t have enough time because of the weather and we got a pretty busy schedule too so that doesn’t help too much.
So the Intro to Fully Flared seemed a bit full on for you especially, was it scary?
I was scared for sure.
I think everyone could tell from the look on your face.
Dude, that was almost embarrassing, I was bummed on the gay face I was pulling. But when it happened it was just like BOOM. I felt like a heat wave and the heat pushed me with some acceleration and it was real loud, like the loudest thing I ever heard and as soon as I heard that boom my ears were just ringing.
So did they give you ear plugs or anything?
Na, cuz I was trying to skate with the ear plugs, but I need to hear to skate and my balance was all messed up. So when I did it, it was like the hottest thing I ever felt and it was the loudest thing I ever heard, so I was just trying to cover up. It was like when you pull the oven down and feel the heat, but it’s a huge oven, so that’s why I look funny. Seriously scariest shit I’ve ever done.
So was it a Spike Jonze creation?
Yeah, Spike filmed it and set it all up. I’m not 100% sure what really happened. I was just the dude they were like “let's have him do this” and I’m like “Alright”. But I think Rick, Ty and Spike all came up with it.
So who’s got your favourite section in the video?
Guy's is my favourite, I was like WOAH. I stood up for him and clapped dude. I think a lotta people are like that for him. It's pretty amazing. I think it's because everybody knows what he’s been through, so like to see him come through with such an amazing part you're like "Oh my gosh he fucking did it". He’s the man though, straight up. If you can stop skating for like five years and still do that shit; like you're talented. The funny thing about him too is he thinks everyone is way better than him. He’s really modest, like he thinks everyone’s part is better than his but he’s so wrong.
So are you happy with the way your section turned out then?
You can always do better, that’s how I feel. I watch it and I feel I put a lot of work into it. Like I watched my "Forecast" section pretty recently and looking at what I do in it I was like "Are you kidding?". I wouldn’t dream of filming that stuff now. Especially after seeing what like Carroll and like Howard and like MJ and Mariano are doing, I feel like I gotta step it up.
And these are the guys you looked up to when you were growing up right?
Yeah, I looked up to them. I definitely feel honoured and I’m just really happy that it all worked out. Not saying I did it to have it work out this way and I had a big plan or whatever, but I just skated and I just happened to send my video into them and they called me and they were like “you're on, lets do this”. So I was like “Fuck yeah”. So now I’m in London with all my homies and they're like my friends you know, so it’s cool. I looked up to them and now they’re all my friends.
So what’s next for you skate/project wise?
I don’t think I’m gonna work on a project in particular, I’ll just do my thing and film. Because no matter what I’ve always been in the habit of filming all the time. Which I think is a good habit to get into. But I’d say its gonna be the Chocolate video for sure.
